MBD for ANSYS can be very beneficial for analyzing the design of an intake or exhaust valve of an automobile engine. The forces acting on a valve can be accurately predicted in a simulation of the multibody dynamics of the engine system in ANSYS Workbench.

Using MBD for ANSYS, the dynamics of the entire engine system can be simulated. The complex nonlinear interactions caused by contact and joints between the camshaft, the lifters, springs, retainers, and the valve will be captured in the forces acting on the valve. Then MBD for ANSYS can directly transfer the loads acting on the valve into a structural analysis model in ANSYS Mechanical.
