00_Create an FFlex body

Suppose that you want to create an FFlex body from the boom body (rigid body) of the excavator shown above.

To do this in RecurDyn, you must first prepare the following mesh data:

  • Nastran file : *.bdf, *.dat
  • ANSYS file : *.cdb
  • DesignSpace file : *.inp

On the Flexible tab, in the FFlex group, click Import. Then, in the Modeling option toolbar, change Point to Body and select the rigid     body to replace with a flexible body. In the Import dialog window, specify the mesh data files you have prepared.

Select the proper reference frame to prevent any changes to the location of the body

(This example sets the inertia marker as the reference frame.)

In addition to the Body Swap feature, RecurDyn/Mesher also allows another way to replace rigid bodies with FFlex bodies without losing the joint and contact entities.

If you use the Body Swap function, you will lose the joint and contact entities.

The above example is included in the RFlex Tutorial.
