Introduction

AutoDesign is an easier design tool in the context of RecurDyn, which integrates the numerical optimization, the design of experiments and the meta-model techniques into one process.

From the viewpoint of developers, AutoDesign is nearly automated for the selection of mathematically difficult items such as optimization algorithm, design problem scaling, multi-objective formulation, robust optimization formulation, DFSS, automated DOE generator, screening design variables etc. Although AutoDesign is easier than other design optimization software, however, design optimization is still difficult because it requires much experience for design formulation.

Thus, in order to minimize the burden of AutoDesign users, this guideline book is provided. This guideline explains the design formulation for RecurDyn users. Also, it helps them to understand AutoDesign and design optimization.

ne is Monte-Carlo simulation, which employs two sampling methods such as Latin hypercube sampling and random sampling. Another is optimization-based method. This is a hybrid approach, which finds MPP by using AFORM based on Meta-Model and refines the reliability index by using the dimension reduction methods. Also, it provides the design sensitivity information for failure probability.
