Figure 1 Belt example
RecurDyn/Belt is used to model the belt systems and pulley systems of various types and configurations. Typical applications of RecurDyn/Belt include modeling and engine Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) system consist of the Ribbed V-belt, Ribbed V-pulley, and Roller. Continuously variable transmission (CVT) system uses Roller, Flange, V-pulley and V-belt. A Timing belt mechanism consists of Roller, Timing pulley, Timing belt.
RecurDyn/Belt has two methods for simulating the belt system.
• ‘Segment’ method: Uses the TRKG-alpha integrator.
• ‘Element’ method: Uses the Hybrid integrator.
Step to create a belt system in segment assembly mode
1. Create a belt segment.
2. Create a pulley(s).
3. Assemble a belt system.
4. Define the connector force parameters.
5. Define the contact parameters.
6. Run the simulation.
Step to create a belt system in element assembly mode
1. Create a roller(s).
2. Assemble a belt system.
3. Define the element force parameters.
4. Define the contact parameters.
5. Run the simulation.
